Truly Living

1st Timothy 6:19 Truly Living

In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.  1st Timothy 6:19  NIV

There was a young man who went to work for one of the NBA teams.  When Christmas came around, the company had the party at the head coach´s mansion.  The players and executives were there along with most of the staff.  He chatted with a few people and tried some of the elaborate catering.  Then he noticed some lights on outside, in the garden.  He let himself out into the backyard where it seemed he would be alone.  But once he was outside, he found an amazing covered patio with comfortable sofa´s, an enormous flat screened TV, a kitchen, and a giant barbeque.  Just then the head coach showed up and offered the man a drink from the fridge.  There were heaters so, even though it was freezing out, they sat down together to chat comfortably.  Astounded by the luxury the boy thought to himself that this was really living.  What treasures would we like to see for us?

Those who put their hope in God may not aspire to have all that the rich and famous will have.  But the One we call our Father is the One who gives all things.  His Son, our Savior, and Friend has gone to prepare a place for us.  Shall we seek a relationship with Jesus now that will assure us of being with Him in the age to come?

Dear Lord,

Help us put our hope in You and that endless treasures are still to come.  Show us how to secure a life with You so sweet that we feel like we are truly living now and forever, we pray!

Amen
