and the Living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades. Revelation 1:18 WEB
The woman knew that her husband believed in God before they got married. It never seemed to be a problem until they were married and living together. It was then that she realized how different his views of the world were. Little things like the mention of someone dying would make her sad for days, whereas he acted as if he would be seeing them again real soon. If they tried to discuss Jesus, the woman would get upset. She had heard the stories of Christ as a little child, but her church experience made the story so idealistic that she would not buy any of it. “A virgin birth,” a “dead man walking again,” what´s up with that? How do we feel about the One our hopes could rest upon?
Everyone on earth, even Christians, should be able to admit that the story of an almighty God coming to us in the body of a human is way out there. We could say that we know more about science and that we will no longer believe in such tales. We may laugh at the believer´s hope in the impossible. But, if we are honest with ourselves, we could admit that it would be nice to have Someone there for us when we face tough times. Even the strongest person could use a strong and wise Friend by their side. Hope is a powerful asset that could give believer and non-believer strength to face anything. What if we all laid our down our misgivings and asked the Unseen One to show us just how He could help us now?
They say You hold the keys. Please flash across the stage of our awareness. Let us be forever changed by our encounter with You and press forward to know You more, we pray!
