Their Angels See God!

¨See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that their angels in heaven always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.¨  Matthew 18:10 (Reference Bible)

Beautiful and beloved by most, is our story found here in Matthew 18 about the shepherd leaving the 99 to go find the one lost lamb of God.  But just as Jesus leads into this comparison to the love and insight into the heart of the Father, He teaches us a couple of marvelously wonderful truths.

First of all Jesus, our Lord, our Savior and our only true Way, tells us in few words that the precious little lambs of God have got a marvelous unseen friend.  Jesus states in words and therefore assigns validity to the fact that there are in fact angels who are dedicated to each of these individuals.  We may be so familiar to this truth that we give it little thought, but when you do stop to consider, it come with a world of comfort and endearment.

The second truth and perhaps one of the most marvelous thoughts ever come to our race, is those precious words – ¨always behold the face of my Father.¨

Normally we breeze past these words without giving them much thought while focusing our attention on the general truth of the story.  But if we do pause for a moment in this garden and sniff the roses, we may receive a greater blessing as we ponder the Love of our God in His heaven.

Now the thought of an angelic creature is beautiful enough.  These wonderful spiritual beings are described as having wings and the power to fly.  They shine with a brilliant glow that stems from their frequenting of the presence of the Almighty.

However as we consider them we notice that the beauty they may hold is radiating from Another even greater and infinitely more wonderful. (The same may be said of us)  Having established this let us look at what they are doing.  They behold or see the face of that indescribable wonder that is the Father.  They see the actual being who is God!

You and I may sit in all tranquility and pass over those words for a lifetime, but the ones who have chosen to search a little deeper and go a little further, they have done what it takes to do a little finding.  There are people like you and me who have been blessed by special insight into what it means to be in the presence of God.  These precious souls have received a gift which far exceeds any experience available to a human being.

It is to this end that the true Christian works.  We sacrifice earthly comforts and possessions.  We turn our backs on our personal desires and willingly choose for ourselves a steep and narrow path that normally takes us on a lonely road where few, if any will accompany us.  We may slave for a lifetime looking forward to rewards and goals that we seek without seeing the realization of them only for the hope set before us.  We give all to one day be one of those most blessed who will bow before the throne and gaze upon that indescribable face of God in heaven.

And those angels looking after the lambs of God constantly look upon that scene!  They always behold the face of the Father in heaven! Wow, wow, wow!  This is awesome stuff to ponder!

Dear Jesus, thank you for leaving the ninety and the nine.  Thank you for coming out to find each of Your lost little lambs. But Lord, please give us a sense of wonder when we ponder what it must mean to gaze as You and the angels do upon the face of the Father in His heaven.  Let us feel a little of that what those angels must feel when they gaze on that scene.  Lift up our spirits and show us how to offer them up, so that we too experience a deep, life changing sense of wonder after Him who dwells in all power and glory.

Amen
