Are We Prepared to Come to Jesus?

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 1:18 (NIV)

Could it be possible?  Written here in the first chapter of the book of Matthew is a story. It is a story of a couple who came into contact with the Divine.  God steps in and makes His plans include the lives of these human beings.  He works above our reality.  He is working out His plan of redemption for His creation which has turned from Him.  He sets the seed of a baby within the womb of a young woman.  This Child´s origins are not just scientific matter.  His Child is to be a blend, a bond, a connection between the work of the Spirit and His creation.  In the life and death of this Baby lies the redemption of our entire race.  In His Son Jesus Christ we find our Way back into the presence of the Father.

It is fantastic.  Could a woman become pregnant by the Spirit of God instead of the scientifically proven method?  What kind of person would step out on a limb and stand on faith in such a far-out story?  Where do we go to stray so far from our tested and tried understanding of the world around us?  Would people think us strange to go against all that we know of science?  Are those around us going to let us get away with such a contrary view of what is happening?  Are we willing to let our hearts go out to the idea that God does exist?  Are we prepared to stand on faith in His power, wisdom and workings in our life on earth?

It would be ridiculous to preach or confess such wild stories if it were not for One thing.  It is brought to us from God Himself.  He has communicated to us that He designed it this way.  He has set His seal of approval upon the faith that the Holy Scriptures reveals unto us.  Is the voice and word of God an adequate source?  Would the message He gives us hold the same weight in wisdom and power that His words held when He formed our planet?

It is true that men and women have the right to be skeptical.  But would we like to be sure?  Would it be safer and more intelligent to attempt to draw near to the One whom we would question?  Would we actually like to know for ourselves if God is Who He says He is?  Are we prepared to engage Him?  Could seek to know Him well enough to be sure?  How could we judge a person we have never met?  Can we say He is a hoax if we never made an effort to hear what He has to say?

Let us take an opportunity to step out of the crowd.  Let us try something that many are not willing to do.  Let us make an effort to pull in close.  Let us come to the words of Matthew as He tells us of this miracle Baby.  Let us draw near with an ear to hear.  Can we bring our questions to Jesus?  Are we willing to hear from Him if He was sent from God the Father?  Are we prepared to lay down our own notions long enough to listen to His teachings?  Would we like to see if a little searching will repay us with some special findings?  Are we prepared to step into the presence of the Divine?

Dear Jesus, we come.  Something has moved us to look into Your Scriptures.  Assist us in our searching.  Help us as we seek to enter Your presence.  Help us to listen to You as if we want to learn something today.  Whether we have walked long and close to You or if it is the first time we attempt to come, please reward our small sacrifice of time and attention.  Show us, teach us and warm us in Your light as You guide us into experiencing You.

Amen

Notice to followers of this blog:

Sorry for straying from our study of the book of Mark.  We have been trying to further the ministry and directing souls unto the Lord.  We are preparing a book from our past studies of the book of Matthew.  Much of the writings were taken from these posts.  We hope to have available soon in print and ebook “Searching For Christ in Matthew.”  Today´s post comes from our attempt to clean and edit the book.  We still do not know where the Lord will lead us with this ministry.  It is in His hands.

This has been a large undertaking as we find that much editing, review and changes have had to be made.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank any and all readers for their patience and interest with this site.  It has nearly been a year since we began posting and hopefully growth is noted in some form or another.  May He assist our efforts to draw attention and hearts to the Father and His Son.

Any prayers or feedback are most surely welcome.  Thanks again and may we meet up at our Savior´s feet.  To Him be the power and the glory forever!
