strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. Acts 14:22 (NIV)
Saved! Restored unto God! Ransom paid! Heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven! These are the cries of the converted Christian. The impression is that these prizes are ours as long as we accept them and claim them. Responsibility? On our part? What? Jesus took care of that right? All we have to do is say that we believe, and then we can jump right into the celebration. At least this is what modern religion wants us to think. But the truth? What about the whole truth? Don´t we want to hear that anymore?
As Christians we cannot afford to blunder along happily in the half-light of half-truths. We need to know how much of the price we have to pay. Christ sacrificed more, but there are some things we must give up too! Our world will not take kindly to losing us to another Kingdom. Even some Christians will shun or treat cruelly those who are so moved that they will look to God before we listen to them. The encouragement still stands! We must remain true to Christ! We must have faith in Him over all that we see! We must remain true to Him, hold Him close to us no matter who or what else will try and get our attention! We must endure whatever it takes to have our real Prize and enter the Presence of the Lord!
Dear Lord,
Please help us tune out our clamorous world and listen for You! Help us press forward in faith to enter into Your Presence and have You enter into us! Help us now we pray!
Amen
