For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ Acts 28:27 (NIV)
We have come to a moment where all eternity hinges. Even if we have been Christians our whole life, it all comes down to right now. Sometimes we start to feel comfortable with our choices. Sometimes we take confidence in our own faith. But when it really matters we are going to have to give account. We can choose to have our actions, our declarations, or our notions as our defense. Or we can have a dear and intimate friend. A person can attain highly righteous life in earthly standards. We can ascend in our religious institutions. We can think these things will do the trick. But are we just fooling ourselves? Does our future with the Lord depend on compiling external proofs? Or is where we stand with the Lord determined by how much of our hearts are truly turned to Him?
Wherever we are in life, to fail here is to put it all at risk. Let every Christian or unbeliever work out where they stand with God. Whether we are going to be close or far, shall we check to see if our hearts are actually turned to the Lord right now?
Dear Lord,
Do not let us overlook the state of our hearts today! Examine now with us what we are setting them on! Please let it be You that our hearts go out to! And let them be with You forever!
Amen
