Living Sacrifice

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.  Romans 12: 1 NIV

We hear of offering ourselves to God, and often run out to perform a host of actions and declarations to convince the world of our devotion.  Unfortunately, we underestimate our Creator.  Jesus teaches often of our lack of vision.  So many times He laments over how we turn beautiful spiritual truths into human oriented outcomes.  Yet He gently shepherds us on to higher and greener pastures.  Prophet and Apostle too, join in their voices to direct our attention above the heavens.  We have human bodies it is true, but God wants something deeper within our core.  Have we reached the lofty heights where our spirit plunges into God´s?  Do our lives reflect our living sacrifice to always please His Spirit in us?

Our actions will constantly need adjusting.  From the moment we start walking with the Lord, each step must be gained and painfully learned with the help of Jesus.  Our refinement will be a process that will consume our days and lead us ever closer to our Goal.  But the real sacrifice we give our God today is our very soul, our very lives!  Shall we pray that every vestige of our hearts is readily offered up in enraptured love and intimacy?  Shall we pray that God will feel our hearts given to Him in living sacrifice each day?

Dear Lord,

Let us give nothing less than our all unto You!  Help us offer our hearts and souls unto You to mingle with Yours and live out eternity as living, loving sacrifices unto You we pray!
