The show started. Somewhere in the darkness far above the crowd, he hung off of the catwalk. Just as he began to drop down from the ceiling his carabiner caught on a cable and David dangled helplessly above the crowd. He could hear them announcing his entrance but was powerless to pull himself up and there was no way to let himself down. Just then, his assistant risked his own life by reaching down from the catwalk and lifting our dangling David off the cable. Once free he swiftly flew down the rope and into the show.
The crowd knew nothing of his predicament or his folly, but David would never forget. God had saved him once again where his own wisdom and strength had proved insufficient. God is always coming to the rescue. Mankind is forever getting into trouble while we think we are being smart. We need a Savior. We need One Who risks His life for ours! We need Christ! Jesus reaches in when we realize our cleverness and strength are getting us nowhere. He alone can rescue us from our trouble! Shall we look into His capable eyes today? Can we see His reassuring smile and feel His mighty hand lifting us towards safety?
Dear Lord,
Thank you for reaching in and righting all our wrongs. Without Your hand to lift us and guide us we are helpless. Be our wisdom as we strive to stay always by Your side, we pray!
