The off-hand prayer goes up into the air. It is a quick plea for help. We find ourselves helpless in a situation. And, for a moment, we turn to God. It is a mighty tool for the Christian. But it is more than a tool. It is our calling. It is what being a Christian is all about.
Believing in Jesus and following Him consist of this interaction between God and man. Belief is not merely an equation we make with our brains. It goes much deeper. It is the soul sensing deep within its tie to the Almighty God. We realize we have a caring Father and open our hearts so He can wrap us up in a warm embrace.
In those loving arms, we live our daily lives. There is no throwing up a quick prayer into space in case God might answer it. We learn to pursue our problems with the Lord a little further. We insist. We move beyond mere attempts. We actually go to God. We include Him in our troubles. He becomes part of our day. That is when we step into His will.
God can walk through our day with us. We ask Him to look our way. We ask Him to take the time to help us with our struggle. But to do this, we stop. We take the time. We bring our problems, our questions, and our thanks. When we go to God, He walks us through our lessons. It is a learning experience. He will show us why things are there in our day.
We soon find that what we go through is all part of God´s plan. They are opportunities to turn to Him. They are our chances to step closer to our Savior. And, we will take them.
So, when the notion comes to bring something to God in prayer, let´s stay with Him. Let us make sure that He sees we are turning to Him. We want to find our answers in Him. God will bless us with vivid displays of His presence if we learn to live out our day together with Him!
Yahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh accepts my prayer. Psalm 6:9
