Make Time For God

So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord. Psalm 45:11

“I haven´t got time to drop everything and steal moments away with the Lord!” we cry. “How could I spend more of my busy day on devotions when there is so much to do?” The pressures of life won´t let me have the kind of walk with God that I would like to have. Or do they?

We may like to blame the so-called important things in life. But we might want to reexamine ourselves. The people who want to be with God don´t wait. They already made a decision deep within them. Before there was ever a decision to make, they knew where they wanted to be. Near the Lord is the cry of their heart. Bowing in the presence of God is their deepest longing. Drowsy eyes or sleep cannot match the pull they feel to get up and spend time with Him.

Then when they do whisk children off to school or race out the door, they do it with a different kind of strength. That is because they have spent their moment with their caring Savior first. It might not be much. But if we have gone out of our way to make time for Him, God´s Spirit will linger on us like the face of Moses. He glowed from being with God when he came down from the mountain. (Exodus 34:29)

It is time that we look at what means most to us. Are the duties and pleasures in life more important than where we stand with God? If we choose, we can turn. We still have the choice. We will be where our hearts want to be. If we long to be in the presence of the Lord, we will find our moments to steal. When we do, we will not be alone when going about the other things in life.

So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord.  Psalm 45:11 (WEB)
