Cruel words came, followed by cruel actions. A child stood up to defend herself. She lashed out at her aggressors. When the teacher stepped in to stop the brawl, not one child admitted their actions were wrong.”What?” The teacher was caught off guard. “Our parents taught us never to let anyone push us around.” The children all had the same response, every one of them.
The world marches toward one sad extreme. Self has become our god. We must get what we want because we think we deserve it. We will let no one tell us differently or stand in our way. If someone attacks us, with greater violence, we will attack them. But That is not God´s way. Christians have another option.
The whole world could rise against us. We do not need to lash out. Christ had no harsh reactions while cruel men seized Him, beat, tortured, and killed Him. In God´s hands, our lives are protected now and always. There, with our Lord, no harm can come to us. Should they beat us and kill us, all will still be well. We can take refuge in God´s embrace. We will be safe for all time to come.
