There is so much in our spiritual walk that needs attending that we can often forget what matters most. Many times we dive straight into trying to turn our lives around. We want to begin living like Christians, so we start trying to clean up our actions. With all our best intentions, it is too easy to overlook the one thing that will save us and make us grow in Spirit. We need to be with our Lord.
Growing in spiritual terms, means improving the bond between us and God. We grow from being far from God to being closer in our relationship all the time. It can be a slow process or an active, vibrant one. A healthy relationship is one with more investment in it. The Christian who is experiencing more of the Lord each day is the one who is looking for it. A vibrant walk is one that is sought out, fought for, and gained through pain and determination.
We could benefit greatly, if we would learn the secret of the Psalmist. If we could pray each day for our souls to step close, even into the presence of God, we would be okay. We will grow spiritually, if we seek to spend every waking hour talking with and walking with our God.
My soul stays close to you. Your right hand holds me up. Psalm 63:8 (WEB)
