God Is With The Poor

For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper. Psalm 72:12

Being poor can be very painful. And it is not only true when talking about being financially handicapped. When you find yourself down and out, the pain can be excruciating. Nobody likes being poor if poor means not having enough of what you need. So it is easy to lose hope. One starts to feel like there is no one to help them. But that is not true. There is help for even the most tortured soul. His name is Jesus.

Christ came to us for the express purpose of becoming our hope. He moved more than we can imagine to make it happen. There was none other who could have done it. Yet, somehow, God humbled Himself and managed to be born amongst us. Then, even more remarkably, He suffered at the hands of those He came to save. Jesus died for all who have fallen short of God´s intentions for us. He showed the world there is life after the grave for those who care to know.

So, if we might be among those who feel we don´t have enough, there is hope. Christ is here to help. Turn to Him. Seek Him out. It is not a ritual to perform. It is a journey of the soul. Look for the lack deep within. Then, go out in search of the One who can and will fill that void. When we find our Savior, we will know that all will be well for us forever. With our Lord, we will have all we ever need.

For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.  Psalm 72:12 (WEB)

  1. Thanks for this!

This post reminds me of the following verse:
“Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?”
    -James 2:5

And how he provides us with everything we need:
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.”
    -1 Timothy 6:17

“The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.”
    -Psalms 23:1

And that he’s always there for us when we need him:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
    -Matthew 11:28

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
    -1 Peter 5:7

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
    -Psalms 147:3
