Flattering Not From The Heart

It happens a lot these days. People talk like they are God´s chosen ones. They go on about how much God loves them and has done all He did just for them. It is in our modern Christian songs. It is making its way into our churches. But for all the flowery words, people are only trying to convince themselves that their love is true.

There was an old saying that empty cans make the most noise. It meant that where there was much fanfare, there was sure to be less sincerity. Emotionally, people can reach great heights with their religion. But for a love affair to be genuine, there has to be a real relationship and a bond between those involved.

Let us pray that our adoration finds and fixes itself on the One worthy of it. Let us search for our Savior until we meet Him face to face. If we find ourselves tempted to sing louder, let it drive us to our knees harder. Let us get down to the serious task of engaging with our Lord until our relationship with Him speaks for itself.
