It has happened over and over. History repeats itself. God saves His children. He teaches them to follow Him and to love. He gives them great signs of His presence. But then, they fall out of love. God´s children get distracted by our world. We turn to everything else under the sun. What is our problem?
It would be great if we were talking only about people who live far away or a long time ago. But unfortunately, it happens right here in our churches. It happens in our day. It happens to us. We all can reach a high peak in our devotion to God. Then come the distractions. We get busy. Problems arise. Unaware of the deception, we find ourselves plodding along in life forgetting to worry if God is near. Maybe we haven´t even thought of Him in hours, days, or years.
There are powerful forces at work. They desire nothing less than to steal our chances of waking up. But we all must. We need to see when we take steps without our Lord. We need to realize when distance creeps in. We must turn from our ways. We must seek the Lord. Now! And every day!
But my people didn’t listen to my voice. Israel desired none of me. Psalm 81:11 (WEB)
