We do not yet see very well into the spiritual realms. There is still much to learn. Some people do boast loudly, though. They claim to be the experts who know and can tell us what to do and think. But being louder or more scholarly does not help people make that leap from our world of science into the Kingdom of God. Their qualities might get them attention. But, the whole direction of Scripture leads somewhere else. It is Spiritual. It points us to a God we cannot see. Modern science, physics, and chemistry cannot take us to where the Almighty dwells.
Christianity is built on faith. We must exercise a different kind of muscle, not made of tissues or matter. The connections being made are not ones of electrical currents or chemical interactions. We are talking about hearts and souls. We are talking about bending the very mystical fabrics of our being that give us life and sustain us. We are talking about food that we don´t ingest. Our Savior mentioned it when He said we don´t live on bread alone. It is our souls that we either lift up to God or keep to our greedy selves.
Shallow faith is no faith at all. It lets us keep much of our hearts for ourselves. We then look at the Bible as if it only speaks about the physical world. We drag the spiritual meanings of texts down and tie them only to earthly situations and matters. Bread is only bread. And washing is done with soap and water. Yet there is still hope for some of us. Those who care can still look above our ways of thinking. We can lift up our very souls unto God. Let us turn to the Lord today and ask Him to walk us through the mysteries of His Kingdom and concerns for us!
Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul. Psalm 86:4 (WEB)
