Out on the open sea, giant swells can build up. Sometimes, they are like mountains that roll across the ocean. The massive hills sweep along with deep valleys between them. They can easily hide even large boats from view. When the waters crest and break, the roar deafens the ears. Anyone who has experienced such rollers will testify. Being in amongst them is humbling. The water is too powerful. Humans are frail. Even in a weathered vessel, we could be at the mercy of the sea.
As potent as the sea is, another power overshadows it like the sun. His name is the Almighty! He is God. At His voice, even the mightiest waves bow down. No howling gale will prevail. Our Lord can still it all with a whisper. When His voice sounds, all creation holds its breath.
Our God is mighty. Yet He loves us enough to redeem us. We are guilty of not keeping Him first in our lives. He chose to forgive those who will bow to Him like the wind and the sea. If we can learn to fear the Lord, we can come to know Him. He can heal us. We could also become obedient to His voice. Let us do whatever we can to come to know the Divine like the mighty breakers do.
