Christianity today is in danger of losing the art of worship. We can have all our doctrines right down to the letter. We can say all the right words. But the sentiments we experience in our worship time could still fall short of honoring God.
The thing is, something deep within us should be connecting with our God whenever we come to consider Him. Our worship needs to be more than some emotional high that we try to reach with our emotions. It should be the resulting fruit of hearts that are communing together. It is much more than a ritual. It is all about a Presence that we dare to approach. When mortal man is allowed before the throne of the Almighty, our senses will surely overflow. But the reverence comes from standing exposed to the Alpha and the Omega. The love that wells up will come from being so close to the Son who died to redeem us. We can and should feel many emotions and praise out loud. But let all that we experience flow from this encounter we are having with the Lord our God.
Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker, Psalm 95:6 (WEB)

Much of Christendom today’s wants that feel good worship where modern songs are sung and everyone is closed eyes with hands and bodies swaying. They need to feel something. But that’s not true worship..

Yes, there are many who come only for a feel-good recharge. But, let us all strive to make the connection with God. Begin to grow our relationship into something much more than a few songs and short period of good feelings. Take the time, get to know Him, the sensations could last forever instead of the minutes we allocate for our fix. But the searching soul, must make the journey, take the steps from the lowlands where we live to the actual presence of God. No quick-fixes, but true engagement on our part seeking nothing short of encountering Him and staying with Him always.
