Christianity today is in danger of losing its essence. We have turned it into things we feel, agree with, and do. One must belong to this group or that. We must study one way of thinking or the other. And be convinced that our teachers are the more studied ones. To be the brand of Christian that can say we are saved, we must look like it. We must act according to the leaders who form or run our denominations. They lead us to worship, believe, and behave even if it differs from the other churches down the street.
Yet, for all our religious zeal, we don´t seem to be experiencing any significant outpouring of the Holy Spirit. In fact, our influencers are happy with where we stand with God. According to them, we have already received. We are pardoned, saved, and redeemed. But, if being with God is what we yearn for, we should stop and take a good hard look.
Anywhere our faith takes us, it should leave us defenseless and exposed in the presence of God. We should be acutely aware of our own insignificance and feeble self-worth. God´s grace should shine as our only hope. Christ will be the only Teacher we can fully trust. We will need Him near to confirm our faith. His loving arms are the only place we are secure. If there is any lack in our relationship and daily walk with the Savior, we can afford to panic. Let´s repent and ask that our search for God leads us into His presence today.
Serve Yahweh with gladness. Come before his presence with singing. Psalm 100:2 (WEB)
