No Deceit With God

He who practices deceit won’t dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won’t be established before my eyes. Psalm 101:7

Those who would have their home with God will be honest souls. No deceit will be found in them. As much as we would love to say that the description fits us, we might want to check again.

We can say that we love Jesus and the Father. We can be zealous for the Lord. We can strive to do all that He commanded us. We can attend church faithfully and walk as religiously as the next person. But, it is too easy to lie to ourselves. If our faith falls short of being sincere, for even short periods, we only deceive ourselves. We are trying to deceive God. If we do all these things and fail to engage with the Lord with our entire souls, we are toying with religion. Our faith is false.

The cure is Jesus Christ. We must get to know Him. We can´t just know about Him. We have to live each step in the relationship process. We have to want and need Him. Seek and search for Him daily. We must go out of our way to connect with Him and know that our bond is growing constantly. We must speak to Him all the day through. All else will only help us when we are truly with Him and His presence is felt. So, let us make the most of our time with our Lord. Pray that all deceit is torn out of us, even from deceiving ourselves!
