Tremble At the Presence

Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, Psalm 114:7

The mountains tremble and shake. Fire burst into the sky with such force. Molten rock streams down. The power of the Lord is above our capabilities to conceive. The waters rage. Wind too. They howl and tear apart while man can only hide from their fury, praying that our lives are not taken. The elements are real. They are not under our control. Yet still, many people scoff at the One who commands them.

We drive to air-conditioned buildings in climate-controlled cars. People rarely consider what is behind the storms, earthquakes, or volcanic eruptions. Few people weather the seas these days or fend their humble crops from wildfire. So we lose touch with nature. We forget God so easily.

It is time that we pray we do not lose our sense of wonder. We should ask to be shown how little we control our planet. There is Someone we should turn to. God still moves today. When He shows up, all the elements tremble. They react immediately to His command. Why don´t we try, with all we have, to come to know and worship Him? It could be the best thing we ever do!
