Coming Home to God

A Song of Ascents. By David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!” Psalm 122:1

David declares his joy when hearing they are going to God´s house. We can also remember getting excited about going somewhere. But do we stop to think about it?

The Psalmist recognized deep within the opportunity his soul was receiving. Waves of pleasure surely spread at the knowledge. Soon, he would be where the presence of God lingered. We might merely recall getting excited about the thought of seeing our family or loved ones. Or was our emotional high also because we were approaching the Lord?

The kind of worshippers who will weather the trials are those who cling to this anticipation. Some travelers will step out into the fierce elements. They will go against great adversity. These blessed children are the ones who are on their way Home. They will stop at nothing to reach the place their heart has always longed to be. Precious souls who yearn to be where God´s presence dwells will soon have what their hearts desire. They can start getting excited.
