It comes across a lot in Christian talk. We say look to God and then brush right by before any clarification or questions are needed. But we will never see the significance in those three words until we dig into what we mean by them.
A simple definition would place the believer in a position of trust. Christians walk on the earth counting on the fact that there is a mighty, loving Being somewhere up above. Tribute is due unto Him. We owe God our worship, our love, and thanksgiving. And we owe the Lord our lives. Thinking like this may count us among the believing crowd. But it does not mean those eyes are searching for Him. Nor does it qualify us as Children of a New Kingdom. It still leaves us firmly embedded in our kingdoms here. We may have read the brochures. But we have not bought any tickets nor experienced the promised adventure.
The whole tone of the Holy Book tries to lift us above general notions. It would place us like servant girls searching for our Lord´s heart in every way. We only go through the motions if we hold back and stand on what we already know. To look to God means He has our attention. Looking to the Lord means we tune ourselves to detect His presence and direction in every matter. It is time we all take up the question with our Savior. Let the pure in heart look to God in ways that demonstrate our gaze is not everywhere else.
