The cry of the Psalmist has gone up before the Lord for ages. The words call for the Lord to look into the hearts of His children. We all know pain and loss. Suffering comes to the good and the bad. But some long within their souls to let only love and righteousness reign within them. This prayer is for them.
Our times do not look favorably upon the Scriptures. We do not hold them in high esteem like some earlier times. The trend these days is to downplay them, question their validity, and often brush them off. But we might not want to be so hasty to join the crowd. The words speak of powers without limits. The Bible points to a mighty God. He has a marvelous plan. We are all included in that plan. And we have a choice.
The words of old have faithfully directed us to lift our sights. Far above our existence, we have a Friend in Glory. There is only good in Him. The God of Love prepares to gather His chosen unto Him. We may not always walk respectfully and honor all that is good. But we can harbor it in our hearts and seek the Lord. We can draw so close in our relationship with Christ that His righteousness wells up within us. Let us set our hearts on the presence of the Divine. Let us seek a change of heart for good!
Do good, Yahweh, to those who are good, to those who are upright in their hearts. Psalm 125:4 (WEB)
