Things Too Wonderful

Yahweh, my heart isn’t arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me. Psalm 131:1

Examine the lives of saints who reached a higher relationship with Christ. We will soon recognize some of their qualities. We can learn from them how they grew so close to their Savior. One of the first things we will notice is that they made more of God and His Kingdom than they did of us and ours. But don´t stop there. Continue to pry. We will also see that their contentment did not come because they could reason it all. Instead, they were happy that their Unseen God was willing to engage with them. Endless amounts of bliss poured in and through them because of unexplainable grace.

That old joy people once reveled in is losing popularity by the day. Now, we need to be the experts on every doctrine and have the inside track of the best interpretations. Those forgotten souls who sat and gazed upward in wonder are swiftly becoming a dying breed. We are too educated for that outdated mindset. But we miss out on more than we know.

To soar into lofty heights where God and man blend together into one takes a great deal of wonder. Awe, hope, and faith are all things we cannot increase with reason. They are gems in the crowns of the dwindling remnant of the Lord. Let us leave the brain training for the experts in worldly ways. Let us concern ourselves with detecting the presence and movement of the unseen. Let us come to God to gaze up in bewilderment, to know Him, and be blown away.

A Song of Ascents. By David. Yahweh, my heart isn’t arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me.   Psalm 131:1 (WEB)
