Lift Your Hands and Praise God

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary. Praise Yahweh! Psalm 134:2

Some churches still have worshippers who lift their hands while singing or praying. There are other churches that see their actions and judge them. Those who hold up their hands must do it as a gesture for something occurring inside of them. If it is because they are turning some inward part toward God, then we would do better to join them.

In every congregation, there are sure to be people who do things for one reason while others do it for another. Only lifting our hands because everyone else is doing it won´t bring any great honor to God. If we raise our hands to be seen by those around us,  our action is not even directed unto God.  (Matthew 15:8)

What it all boils down to is that God sees all. He knows who came to church or worship to come before Him. He knows the motives and heart behind all we say or do. Each moment of every day presents us with an opportunity. We can lift our hands, hearts, or lives as humble offerings unto the Almighty God. Whenever we turn to Him, He is pleased. Our relationship grows. Let us lift our hands if it helps. But let us all offer up everything within us to reach that loving embrace He calls us into.
