You still see small acts of kindness all around. Someone comes up short in the checkout line and the next person offers to help. A door is held open for someone who couldn´t manage it on their own. A doctor or a nurse who went out of their way to ease the suffering of a patient. It happens every day, even though the news has only tragedies and evil to tell us.
These mini graces found in the hearts of people follow the great heart of our Lord. Some ask, “How can we follow Jesus?” While others do it naturally. His self-sacrificing response to need somehow radiates through their kindness. And, what loving kindness God has shown! Christ came to stubborn hearts. He preached to ears that struggled to listen. He called to souls that resist change. He suffered rejection and willingly let us nail Him to the cross. It was all out of love. His kindness won the day.
When hearts draw near to the Lord, His loving kindness warms our souls. That glow of God´s Spirit affects our nature. It radiates within and without. The closer we walk to our Savior, the more of His loving kindness will shine through in our natures. Coldness will melt away. If we can go to Jesus with enough determination to encounter His presence. God´s loving kindness will live on in us.
