Our Portion

I cried to you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” Psalm 142:5

What is it that we truly want? The question may sound silly to ask. But it determines much more than we can imagine in this life, and the one to come. It sets our souls on a path that either takes us closer to God or in the other direction from Him. It is crucial that we take the question seriously.

The temptation is to brush the subject off. That temptation is no accident. There are dark powers that would love to have us bumbling along. They don´t want us to check ourselves.

David had good times and bad. But he had one thing clear – his focus was on God. He wanted the Lord to be above everything else for Him. Things did not always go well, and the man stumbled. But, he was sincere enough to choose God as his portion.

Our world would be a better place if more of us chose the Lord over our other pursuits. If we could direct our hearts to Him and yearn for God more, we would have Him as our reward. So, the call is for those souls who will respond. Draw near every heart that will place God before every other desire. Come close to the Savior today. It is beautiful to take refuge in God while we are in the land of the living.
