Who to Turn To

People need people. We need to know others are there for us. We run to others for their help, their comfort, and their advice. It is part of being human. We also need to be there for others. In that respect, we fulfil our Lord´s wishes. We care for the needs of those around us. But as good and as normal as it may be, it must come from our trust in Someone much more important. Our confidence and focus is to remain upon God.

The shift may seem slight, but if we make it our habit and focus to run to people before we run to God, we cut Him out of the process. Our first reaction should be to turn to God. We read something, we find a moment to sit with the Lord and ask Him to reveal any hidden meaning. Ask Him what His thoughts are and where He would lead. If we find ourselves in a bind or a situation, we could run to Him before taking the matter to someone else.

In creating a habit of bringing each angle to God, we allow His hand and all-knowing wisdom to play their parts. Plus, we strengthen the bond that we are cultivating between us. Children of the Lord who proceed in a manner that ties them intricately to God, will have His presence leading them on. Let it be us!
