Any Christian alive will know the encouragement well. We are to come together to worship the Lord. It is our privilege. It is our joy. We yearn to enter the sanctuary of God to pray to and praise Him. It is where we can go to be close to Him. But what is this sanctuary? Do we know how to find it?
The obvious answer is our church. And, it is a fine answer. Some are simple old designs where people feel at home and cozy. There, hearts can devote themselves to directing themselves to their beloved Savior. Others are exquisitely decorated masterpieces. The sights and sounds there are all carefully planned. They lift our attention to the Divine. But there is more to the sanctuary of God if we will look for it.
Whether our churches are grand or humble, the one thing they can have in common is the presence of the Lord. Wherever we go to worship Him, He can be there. Even if we cannot attend church, we can drop to our knees. Bowed before the Lord, we can tune our hearts to Him. His presence can come to souls looking to Him. So if we can draw near enough to the Lord to sense His presence, we have found His Sanctuary. Let us praise God there!
