The angels sang to shepherds when Baby Jesus was born. “Peace on Earth, and glory to God in the highest!” We are familiar with the words. But do they ever sink in?
The thought of peace coming to us in our world and times might seem impossible. Greedy leaders everywhere tell us one thing yet have hidden agendas. Talking about it establishes their careers. And it lets them continue to work on whatever fills their pockets best. But people who think of themselves are never really at peace with others. Fighting or getting what is best at the cost of others will not suddenly disappear. So what were the angels singing about?
The Peace the angels have to sing about is not from this world. Christ came to us from above. He is God´s gift to us. He is the solution to all the struggling and getting ahead. Jesus paid dearly so that we may have hope. There is coming a day that we will rise above all that men do here. The angels can´t help but burst into song when they see God´s marvelous plan unfolding. Pray that Peace from Heaven filters into our hearts as well.
