Maybe when we first come to faith, people are willing to work out their faith. But, as time goes by, many people trust that their faith is already a done deal. We decided long ago to call ourselves Christian and join a community of believers. We walk like them, and we talk like them. So what is left to question?
The problem is, if our relationship is not growing, it is unhealthy. If we our walk with Christ is not strengthening, no progress is being made. If, more of the Holy Spirit is not filling our lives and thoughts, we have been tricked. Darkness seeps in wherever it finds a crack. Any distance at all provides the opportunity to separate us more.
The serious Christian will not tolerate anything coming between us and our Lord. Steps closer to our Savior must be made each day. The bond we began to form can grow, but only if we are willing to work on it. So, let us set our hearts on the journey of soul. Let nothing keep us from moving from where we are now and finding ourselves in the presence of God.
