Receiving Only the Word

People often send us to the Bible to find our answers. They are right, but only half right. The Holy Scriptures are our blessed source to find what we need to know of God. But they must bring us to God. So, when we go to the Bible, it must bring us into awareness of Him. That is the vital truth of the Holy Writings. We must reach a conscious, two-way relationship with the Spirit of God. Or, the Bible will only be a set of doctrines and beliefs for us.

To be saved and receive the promises of God, we must use what the Bible teaches us. Then press forward to lay hold of our Prize. We must meet the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We can read all we want and should want to learn more. But knowing every word and instruction is not the goal. Our goal, is to use even the slightest encouragement and step closer to God.

Many people nowadays have vast knowledge of the Scriptures. But few follow through and walk in privileged intimacy with the Lord. We can tell by the amount of miracles and movement of the Spirit we are experiencing.

So, if we receive only one text today, let it usher us closer to the Lord. Take the Word of God by the hand and follow it before the Throne of Grace. There, naked and exposed before the Almighty, let us encounter the One we came to worship..
