Christ´s Best Friend

What would we say if Christ showed up on our doorstep and asked us to be His best friend? The fact is, He has.

Even Christians wake up each morning and set themselves to the tasks of the day. We may hold our devotions but then the considerations of life begin pulling us away. There are meals, chores, people to care for, and our jobs or schooling. The lists are endless. We probably won´t finish all we set out to do. But we could achieve our most important objective. We could walk with God.

Those who call ourselves Christian love to think that we have our spiritual side all taken care of. We might wish for a little more time to devote to God or religious affairs. But often we find ourselves caught on a roller-coaster life and simply try to keep up the pace. It can seem that our life with Christ is reserved for special moments, or even one day during the weekend. That deception we cannot afford to fall into. We need Him now, each day.

The suggestion comes to face each step while still walking with our Lord. When we get up, or off our knees, keep the Spirit with us. Seek His thoughts on our steps. Let the communication remain open. The first tasks, we could do together. Demand of ourselves to stay connected. When we have taken a few steps, turn to check that God is still here.

Dear Lord,

Help us form a habit of keeping You with us throughout our day. Everything will turn out better. Help us achieve the friendship that You have been looking for in us. Give us wisdom and encouragement. And please, help us persevere in this journey with You!

Amen
