The Best Thing to Turn to

God may be the last thing we turn to when our lives fall apart. But He is the best thing we will ever find.

Troubled times fall on us all. We lose something we are not prepared to lose. And our lives come to a screeching halt. Our spirits plummet out of control. We lose the desire to fight. The dark times show us we need help. While we were on top of the world, we didn´t need to look for anything more. But with the weight crushing down upon us, we need strength that we don´t have.

When we have nowhere else to go, we turn to God. We will have some big questions for Him. But, if we care to listen, what He has to say will be an enormous help. In fact, any help from the Lord is better than any help we could find on our planet.

When we turn to God, something magical happens. Our horizons shift from what we could get here on earth to the Divine. If we open our hearts Heavenward, God´s Spirit will move in. A presence will come along with comfort from above. Those who experience the nearness of God find a peace that our world cannot offer. It is eternal. The embrace of the Divine can carry us safely through any storm. Seek it. Find it. He is more than worth it!

Dear Lord, see our struggles and our pain. Draw us near now. We find no comfort where we are. But, if You can awaken us to Your presence, all our troubles will be overshadowed. Draw us into Your embrace where suffering ends and life with You begins, we pray. Amen

1. But now Yahweh who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel, says: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. 2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.  Isaiah 43:1-2 (WEB)

18. Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them.  Psalm 145: 18-19
