Christians are often people who know how to research and study their subjects. We study our Bibles diligently. We read authors who are known for their research and experience. Listening to well-versed and trusted authorities is one of our leading pastimes. If we live in a church environment, we get our influences constantly throughout our lives. So, it is easy to think that we are the experts. Or, our opinions could be more informed than many others.
Yet when it comes to God, there is always much more to any subject than meets the eye. The Divine moves in realms we cannot imagine. His ways are not our ways. That is what the Bible tells us. As far as the Heavens above the Earth, God deals with matters we do not know to fathom. (Isaiah 55:9)
The only way for a wayward race to be right would be to connect with God. We must lay down our expertise and seek Him. Take our matters to the Lord. If we insist on bringing our thoughts before the Lord before we pass them on to others, He can have His say. Hearts that turn to Him are fillable. God can move more in humble souls who are not puffed up with pride in our own understanding.
Dear Lord, whenever we are moved to give our word on a subject, remind us to bring it before You first. If we can learn to seek Your heart on the question at hand, we will be able to share You with them. Tie us to You so tightly that we walk and talk as Your Spirit would lead we pray. Amen
