The Deception of Our Day

We are in danger of being deceived into thinking we are right and stop short of coming to know the One who is.

Each age has its threats and dangers. Ours is thinking we are more informed than other generations. We like to believe we are safer and more correct than those who do not run in our crowd. But we knew these days would come. Sitting confidently in our easy chairs will not save us from being deceived. It is high time we turn and seek the Lord like never before.

The most effective deceptions are the ones people choose to believe. We think there is no need to check ourselves. But correct doctrines or living standards will not suffice when the roll is called up yonder.

The day of the Bridegroom approaches. But fewer people than ever seem concerned about getting to know the Groom. We need to pray that a few will still seek His presence. Let´s drop what we are doing and make it our mission to grow close to our Savior today!

Dear Jesus, we don´t want to be ignorant of the fact that people´s hearts are far from Yours. Please strike us with conviction and help us see how far we stray from Your side. Let us, at least, seek You until You are present in our hearts, our lives, and our day – we pray, Amen

But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;  Matthew 22:5 (WEB)

44. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up in the last day. 45. It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father and has learned, comes to me. John 6:44-45 (WEB)

1. But know this: that in the last days, grievous times will come. 2. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3. without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good, 4. traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5. holding a form of godliness but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also. 6. For some of these are people who creep into houses and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7. always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.  2 Timothy 3:1-7 (WEB)
