The Positive Pull of Desire

Let the heart yearn to be with God. That tug on our souls can drive us to seek more of the Lord.

We rarely find something if we are not willing to look for it. And, when it comes to encountering God, that rule multiplies. We all have a door within our hearts. Either we can swing that door open or keep it closed. Some think if we leave the door of our hearts cracked slightly, the Lord will press His way in. But it doesn´t work that way.

When we hear of intimacy with the Lord, we can decide to settle for nothing less. That kind of aching soul will check the door of their heart often. We look for anything that might be blocking the Holy Spirit from entering. Yes, we throw out what could impede His coming. Sweep the area clean! Prop open that door! Then, scan the horizon as we prepare for His arrival!

Hearts that long to be with God will revel more in His presence when He is near. Our times together grow sweeter. Setbacks will hurl us into our determination to draw near. Let the cry of our hearts be for more of the Lord. Then let our desire after God drive us ever further into His arms!

Dear Lord, the love You have shown us has moved us. Help us give those hearts over to wanting to be with You. Throw us into the most pressing pursuit of You. Consume our souls with desire. Let others yearn for what they will – only let us have You to love, we pray. Amen
