Who Will Be the Children of God

It will be the all-consuming and intimate bond we make with the Lord that gets us into His arms.

But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:  John 1:12 (WEB)

There should be no argument over what qualifies us as children of God. Yet we are often sold something short of a relationship. The danger lies in passing over the important part. Often we hear the words receive and believe, and because we feel we have both, we search no further.

To rise into the company of followers who gave their very lives for their faith, no catchy words will suffice. But the way is open for each of us. We can come to Christ. We do not need better equipment or training. We need Him.

Although it sounds simple, it takes dedication, our full attention, and great desire. But if we can muster these up in our hearts, we can go to Him. We can approach the throne. We can ask the Lord to enter the most overwhelming relationship of our lives. Throwing ourselves into that walk with our Savior will do the trick. Nothing else will get us far.

Dear Lord, although we like to think our faith is real, please let us take the matter further. We do not want to wake up one day and realize that we have missed our goal. You are our Prize and our inheritance. We would have You as our Reward, now and always. So blow up the fires of desire within us and drive us to seek You. Let us be fully Yours, and You are fully ours, we pray. Amen

“But I said, ‘How I desire to put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father”, and shall not turn away from following me.’ Jeremiah 3:19 (WEB)
