Pressing Close to God

Have we ever needed to hear from God and felt like we didn´t? Maybe we took our troubles to the Lord in prayer but got no clear answers. When someone asks for something and doesn´t receive it, we tend to doubt God´s willingness to give. These times do not come to us because God is cruel or unjust. We should see them more as hurdles in our faith. Or we could see them as steps leading upward into the presence of God.

An athlete who pushes themselves goes further than those who don´t. Success in any field is rarely an accident. It is also true in our dealings with the Lord. Desire is displayed when we take our notions and gain something from them.

So if we feel it in our hearts to grow closer to God, experience Him, or to have Him in our day, press on! It pleases our Lord to find children who will not settle for less in their walk with Him. Pray harder. Linger longer. Stay with the Spirit until His presence floods our moment. Hunger, thirst, want, need, and seek stronger desires. Then insist. We will be filled.

Dear Lord, where others may hold back, let us come boldly unto You. Where we have held short before, burn within us to press closer. Where once we heard faint whispers from above, let us seek that voice that booms inside our hearts. Ever closer to You is our cry. Stir up the fire that burns in us for You. Then lead us into that walk with You that You have for each of us, we pray. Amen
