Reacting to Christ´s Soon Coming

If time is short, will becoming more righteous satisfy us? Or will we be among those who will die if we haven´t encountered the Savior for ourselves?

What is the first response people turn to when they realize that time is short and our Savior will return soon? Now and then, someone cries out about how little time we have left. Our planet and our societies are heading in a destructive and terminal direction. So, we panic. We are moved to the point where we finally want to do something. But, what is it that we do?

If we notice what we have done when conviction has come to us before, we start to get the picture. If we look around at how others react, it grows clearer. When earthlings hear time is short, they try to tidy up their lives. It sounds like the right thing to do. We can find many who will encourage us in our efforts. But will it be enough?

There is another option that we should consider. That Entity whose whisper has finally reached our ears still waits nearby. Hidden behind a veil that we choose to keep in place, our Lord watches. He scans our scene for those who will do something besides sweep up. The eyes of God look earnestly for those who will drop down on their knees and search. What are they looking for? They want to know where that whisper came from. They want to discover the mysterious Source. They need to meet the One hidden from our sight. If we could join them, we could learn all the answers to our questioning hearts.

Dear Lord, we pray that You will still find some who turn to You when we hear our time is short. If we would spend eternity with You, help us to get to know You intimately now. We cannot afford to waste time trying to be better when it is Your righteousness that we need. So, draw us tightly into Your embrace, and help us, Lord! We pray in Your name. Amen

6. Seek Yahweh while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. 7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him, to our God, for he will freely pardon.  Isaiah 55:6-7 (WEB)

3. It will happen that he who is left in Zion and he who remains in Jerusalem shall be called holy, even everyone who is written among the living in Jerusalem, 4. when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from within it, by the spirit of justice and by the spirit of burning.  Isaiah 4:3-4 (WEB)
