Time is the apparent sequence of events we use to measure our existence. It is viewed in many ways, but life seems unquestionably tied to it. Then we hear our Savior calling us, telling us that time is at hand. He teaches. He tries to lift our understanding. The Lord wants us to know that our outlook will soon change. When the light of God shines, we will learn how little we knew back when we leaned on only our finest minds.
When Christ speaks of the present, He calls us nearer to Him. He says that His kingdom is within reach. When the Lord talks of the future, He speaks with the same immediacy. The point is unmistakable. If we want to be included in Him and His plans, we must tie ourselves inseparably to Him. Let those who hear make the most crucial calculation of our lives. Make sure our short time converts into less distance between us and the One who holds time in His hands.
Dear Lord, we hear the urgency in Your voice. Your call has been heard. Let us come. Draw our searching hearts close to You. Let those who sense the importance of Your words shorten the distance that separates. Help us lift You to where we had only time before. We pray. Amen
