The Spirit, Or the Fruit

Emptying our hearts so the Holy Spirit can move into us is far better than hoping for a list of the fruit He brings.

What is it about humans that drives us after the fruit instead of seeking to be with God? We see some tasty delights, and our hearts go out to them. It has happened since the beginning. The same thing happens in every area of our lives. But when it comes to our faith, we should learn to stop and check ourselves. There is a lot of talk about the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It comes to us like a good advertisement. Yet it is not the fruit that we need.

How did we lose sight of the real delight? The promised Holy Spirit is the Prize each believer on the planet should be seeking. That His presence may bring fruit is only a bonus on top. He is our counselor. He is our Guide. He is the One who will take us by the hand and lead us to the wonders of our God.

Let us turn from our ways. Pray that we will see our need today. If we can empty our hearts of all other desires, God can let His Spirit pour in. Our souls can be a home for the Lord.  In us, our Savior can live and move. We will be one with Father and Son. All things are possible where the Spirit of God is. Let that place be inside of us!

Dear Lord, there is nothing on this earth, that we need more than You. Not even the fruits of the Spirit can be a substitute. Let Your presence with us be the only desire of our hearts. Give us no peace until You are truly the life that lives and moves within us. We pray. Amen!
