Half-full Christianity

It is one thing to say that God is our All. It is quite another to press on and build that bond between us.

Christianity has now had enough time to build up its traditions and ways of thinking. That is not precisely a good thing. Religion is not just about us humans—what we think and do. It is an interaction between us and the God who created our universe. So when we get used to treating our religion in any other way than an encounter, we are wrong. We come to the Almighty to place ourselves, exposed and bare, within His presence. If we do not enter His piercing brightness, we have gone nowhere. If we are satisfied with less than engaging with God´s Spirit, then our Christianity is not helping.

It is time for us to stop in our tracks. We could do it as a group. But it must start with the individuals. Each believer must discover their need to meet the Divine. This is no play on words. It is not a call to more traditions, rituals, or interpretations. The Bible and all the inspired words can help us clean up our lives to some degree. But they do not work their magic until we demand real interaction with God. We have to meet Him and come to know Him personally.

When our Christianity places souls where they can sense their God with them, it begins to do its saving work. That means that the sinner has finally met their Savior. We now have Someone to follow. We don´t follow each other anymore. Our attention falls on the One it should have been on all along. Let´s stop toying with our faith. Let us push forward in truth and place ourselves where God has wanted us with Him.

Dear Lord, we are tired of being half-full of Christianity. Take our searching hearts from this low level of faith and lead us upward. Let us ascend in intensity and truth. Let us rise from here and draw nearer to You. When You lift us from our knees let us walk with the Prince of Peace. Give us awareness of Your presence. Then, teach us to live there with You forever. Amen
