Lately, we have somehow changed the meaning of the words coming to Christ. The words describe an encounter, yet nowadays, we don´t use them as such. Christians mean something quite different. And we are no better for the loss. If we hear it now, it tends to say someone has chosen to take on the name of a Christian. They have started to read their Bible or attend some church services. But the original meaning goes much further.
Coming to Christ should mean that an individual has become aware of His presence. Where once, a person walked oblivious to the invisible God, that person has awakened. Now that person lives a different life because they are no longer alone. The new believer walks with all eyes and ears tuned to their Savior and Friend. We exchange our world to be with Him in His.
Dear Lord, whether we have recently come or have been Christians for years, bring us to You. Make our Christian experience something much deeper than joining a group of people. Open our souls to Your presence in a way that changes us. We no longer want to walk as men and women who see only our world. We would like to engage with our Unseen God. We want to walk and talk with You. Make us increasingly aware of how close You are. Then, let us strive to remain with You forever. Amen
