Coming to know Christ is the most beneficial thing we could ever do. Why? It immediately ties us to the One who holds all wisdom, love, and power. We have access to a Divine Helper, Guide, and Friend through this relationship. Yet, the moment we step down that road, we will run into a maze of doctrines, practices, and teachings. We could lose our way at any point on our path if we do not stay close to the One we would walk with.
Some schools of thought will tell us that all is safe and secure once we come to believe in Christ. They use texts from the Word of God. But, souls weigh in the balance. To be mistaken in our beliefs could cost us more than our lives. So settle for nothing less than real experience with God Himself.
That brings us to a make-it-or-break-it situation. To avoid getting sidetracked, deliberately devote any effort to the relationship. Close the tiniest gap that may come between us and our Lord. Strive for intimacy, always more and more genuine. Use anything and everything gained with Christ to get our souls further into His hands. Theories must turn into tried and trusted steps that bring us further into God´s presence. Only there, with Him, will we ever be safe—even from ourselves.
Dear Lord, look and see if our faith is real. If we have hearts to come to know You, then let us make progress. Give us glimpses of Your presence in our day. Make us increasingly aware of You. We want to see Your movement. We need to know of Your involvement in our lives. And, we are willing to work on that closeness. So help us! Drive us hard after You. Never let us rest. But give us more of You each day we pray. Amen
