Distance From God Alert

Let every alarm sound when it feels like God is far away! Something has to turn us to seek Him each day!

It happens too often. We are going through our day and then realize that we cannot sense God´s presence near us. We are alone in this crazy world. Or worse yet, we have been trodding along like this for some time. We get the impression that we are struggling through a maze, and the Spirit of the Lord is nowhere near. If we ever get that sensation, every alarm should sound.

Our Heavenly Father never intended for any soul to feel like He was far from them. The God who has no limits can effortlessly transcend distance and even time. All things begin in Him and He brought them into existence. So the laws that control and give substance to our existence are things He governs too. If distance creeps between Him and us, that distance can only be on our end. We can keep it there or seek to be with Him, where all is forever well.

So what should we do? Well, create a determined habit of constant search. Look for ways each day to detect God and reach for Him. The moment any distance is found, turn. Drop to our knees. Seek a quiet place where our souls can reach for our Savior. We can develop the skills of searching for the Holy Spirit. Work can be done in our souls to sweep clean and prepare for Him to dwell with us. Let us turn our hearts into sacred places where God can come and walk with us.

Dear Lord, even the tiniest distance between Your heart and ours is too much to bear. Help us get good at seeking You always. Never hide Your presence. If we feel far from You, do not let us take it lightly. Send us on the mission of our lives. Drive us hard in our search for You, we pray. Amen
