Today´s Antichrist

Today´s Antichrist is self. Few are willing to sacrifice it even though Christ did for us.

The world today invests much in building up our image of self. We make everything bow down to our opinions, wants, and needs. We feed it to our children when we teach them they can get anything they want or deserve better. We encourage each other and try to hoist one another back up onto our pedestals each time someone gets down. Me, Myself, and I now replace the focus our songs once put on God. He doesn´t seem to be the center of our attention anymore. The world is too busy placing importance on the individual. We are unwilling to crucify self, and work to preserve it instead.

On the bright side, there are still some who look above ourselves. It is becoming more rare by the day. But a few humble souls will still sneak out of the limelight to find a quiet place to pray. We do not celebrate these seekers. They are not our religious celebrities. They will go unsung and forgotten in the race to lift men up. But God knows who they are. They will receive what their hearts desire. And that desire is to lift the Lord to the throne of importance in their lives.

Let us pray for such burning souls.

Dear Lord, take the humble souls who refuse to lift themselves up. Wrap them in Your arms forever. Draw near to You those who will not follow the pattern of the world around us. Help us see that to walk with You is to die to self and our trends. Let Your nature rub off on those who lay down their lives to seek and follow You. Be exalted again as the King and Ruler of our souls. Amen

24. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. 25. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it. 26. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? 27. For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to every one according to his deeds. Matthew 16:24-27 (WEB)

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.  John 15:13 (WEB)

18. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  John 15:18-19 (WEB)He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.  John 12:25 (WEB)
