Just because we do not like to think about it does not mean that we will get off the hook. Each person is responsible for where we stand with God. A preacher needs to follow what they preach before expecting anyone else to. A teacher must first experience God before they can ever bring anyone else to Him. A Christian is no true follower of Christ unless they have come to walk through each day with Him. The essence of who and what we are lies in how much of God is found in us. Period!
We cut right past all boasts when we examine our hearts before God. When we bow down and seek His presence, His eyes will see through any insincerity. If we lay down our defenses, we can discover if there is any distance left between us and the Lord. If we sit back in pride, the battle has already been lost. True Christianity is active. It is engagement. It is a walk that no theory, doctrine, or statement can replace.
Those whose hearts ache to be with God will learn to seek Him in everything. It will drive them and focus their hearts throughout their days. Think nothing, do nothing, and desire nothing that does not strive to include the Holy Spirit. When our Savior can rise to life inside our hearts, then there is hope for us. We can become what God made us for if we learn that He made us to be with Him. Seek His presence. Find Him in our day. And, hold Him close forever!
Dear Lord, it satisfies some to call themselves by Your name or adhere to doctrinal beliefs. That will not do for us. We need to know that our dealings with You are more real than life itself. Grow this bond between us and You until it is what defines us. Let our concept of living be our walk with You. Help us get there with You, we pray. Amen
