The alarm woke the man at an early hour. It was his only time out of his busy schedule to go and be alone with God. But the man was tired. He struggled to drag himself out of bed. It occurred to him to stay a little longer and get a little more sleep. There was a more silent thought, though, and it was the one he listened to. This latter thought was a gentle urge to seek the presence of God while there was still time.
When that whispered thought came to him, that man was going through some life changes. He needed to be in tune with the Lord so that God could lead him. God could not show him what decisions to make unless the channels of communication were open. If their relationship were not where it should be, the Spirit´s counsel would not be heard. The man in question did not think through his situation as such. He could only trust God and obey.
We often think that obeying God means having a long list of commandments that we try to follow. Yet nothing in the Bible calls us to remain that far from Him. God is our center, our focus. We come to Him. We run to Him. We worship God, pray, and seek Him. He is to be present in all that we do. If we believe in a Living God, then let us live our lives with Him. Make it our mission today to seek the Lord. Then, when we are with Him, pray for willing hearts to do what He whispers to our souls.
Dear Lord, stir us in our slumber. Please send us more desire. Let our need to be with You and hear from You override any other thought. If we can find Your presence with us today, we will hear where You would have us step. Grow this relationship between us. Make our bond so strong that obeying every whispered notion You give is what our hearts want as well.. Amen
